Job Summary:

Under general supervision operates equipment on paint line in the manufacturing area. This includes the following subareas: Loading, Unloading, Painting, and Pre-Treatment. Loaders would be responsible for all phases of part preparation, such as masking and plugging. The Pre-Treatment/ Blast Operator is responsible for following prescribed pre-treatment (i.e. shot blast and/or washer). Painters are responsible for the application of the proper paint and to monitor correct masking and substrate issues. Unloaders are responsible for line off-loading and packaging of finished parts.


Essential Functions:

All Operators will need to:

  • Focus on safety to ensure safe practices for all Team Members in all areas.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment is essential.
  • Build a strong team environment.
  • Clear communication both written and verbal.
  • Operate computer.
  • Receptive to Team Member suggestions.
  • Prepared to respond to schedule priority changes.
  • Report all concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Align with the other Techs to allocate resources to respond to fluctuating labor requirements in the department.
  • Dedicated focus on preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times is essential.


Load Operator:

  • Attentiveness to Detail in all aspects of loading the line.
  • Knowledgeable regarding correct racking and hooks for scheduled jobs.
  • Knowledgeable regarding correct masking requirements
  • Willing to fill in to get the job done in all areas of the department.


Unload Operator:

  • Uses required packaging materials and containers for jobs coming off the line.
  • Return masking supplies to proper locations as removed from parts.
  • Obtain supplies for the current job off-loading.
  • Utilize proper racking storage for racks being removed from the line.
  • Willing to fill in to get the job done in all areas of the department.


Powder Room Operator:

  • Perform daily work in order of scheduled priority.
  • Look for problems before coating (missing masking, substrate issues)
  • Eager to become proficient in all aspects of equipment and systems used in coating.
  • Willing to fill in to get the job done in all areas of the department.


Wheel-a-Brator/Pre-Treatment Operator:

  • Meticulous in recording data involving processes and daily operation.
  • Total awareness of all Chemistry involved in the Pre-Treatment process. (Training will be provided)
  • Ensure jobs are processed correctly: Blast/no blast, Primer only, Primer and Top Coat, Top Coat only.
  • Willing to fill in to get the job done in all areas of the department.


Experience and Skills Required:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Recent mechanical and shop experience that includes the following skills and abilities would be beneficial:
  • Some knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in the production process.
  • Some knowledge of related safety requirements to include proper use of safety equipment and proper safety precautions
  • Ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must have average math skills and mechanical ability.
