Position Overview: 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all finished goods are produced as scheduled to meet customer expectations.  This includes making decisions to support our client's business goals and supervising approximately 65-70 team members per shift.  The Production Supervisor will achieve safe, quality and efficient results.

Responsibilities:

  • Set clear performance expectations with direct reports and hold team members accountable.
  • Address performance issues as they arise and coach to the core values.
  • Hold regular team meetings with direct reports (get to know the team).
  • Coach, develop and manage performance of team members.  This includes recognizing a job well done and/or addressing performance issues in a timely manner. 
  • Write and facilitate annual performance reviews.
  • Provide guidance and assistance for staff by being present on the Production floor and be a partner on the floor for questions and troubleshooting.
  • Promote and create a positive working environment by being available.
  • Participate in the hiring process of direct reports. 
  • Manage PTO requests and ensure timely correction of timesheets or systems in accordance with Payroll schedules.
  • Ensure new and existing team members are trained in accordance with quality expectations and procedures. 
  • Be an engaged problem solver by partnering with Quality department and other employees to effectively address issues as they arise. 
  • Hold team member accountable to quality metrics and corrective actions as issues arise.
  • Audit reporting and paperwork to ensure accuracy in finished good reporting.
  • Hold all Production employees to following the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Directly supervise all Production team members to meet or exceed productivity goals for all finished goods and processes.
  • Analyze data and reports indicating quality and productivity issues.  Address issues as needed.
  • Plan daily departmental personnel needs based on workload by working with temporary agencies to ensure staffing needs are met.
  • Hold team members accountable to productivity metrics and address performance issues in a timely fashion.
  • Actively look for solutions to drive inefficiencies out of current processes.
  • Hold team members accountable to working safely.
  • Assist team members in the case of an injury and complete First Report of Injury or Near Miss.
  • Be accountable for training and developing skills expectations and the training/education on safety practices for all Production staff. 
  • Ensure proper hand off between shifts and Supervisors by composing shift reports and communicating any pertinent information.
  • Hold Line Leads accountable to ensuring proper communication is delivered between each other.
  • Notify Production Manager and other business partners of issues related to safety, quality or productivity that may impact others or customers.
  • Hold all-staff meetings at least once per week to ensure proper communication reaches all Production employees.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma required. 2 or 4-year college degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Able to engage and motivate team members.
  • Experience with performance management of a large group of team members.
  • Familiar with operating under a metrics-driven environment and key performance indicators.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
