Opportunity Overview:

On behalf of Winsor Learning, CorTalent has been retained to find their next HR Director.

Winsor Learning has been around since 1997 and has steadily grown into the company they are today. They believe in giving children their best chance to succeed in school. They've partnered with an expert to create the Sonday System, a simple, cost-effective tool for K-12 educators to identify and quickly intervene with struggling readers.

The HR Director will be responsible for all facets of the HR function, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, separation support, and more. They will be a team player, a collaborative leader, and someone who sees HR as a career and not just a job. 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related
  • Specialized Human Resources certifications preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with Human Resources
  • Experience administering employee benefit plans, recruitment and compensation plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Strong understanding of state and federal requirements and regulations

Position Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Retention

  • Prepare and update job descriptions.
  • Administer internal job posting program.
  • Facilitate internal promotions.
  • Recruiting activity including placing advertisements, contacting search firms, and networking to attract qualified candidates for open positions. Work with managers to identify sources of qualified talent for openings.
  • Interviews and makes recommendations to hiring managers for selection of internal and external candidates for hire.
  • Ensures that all aspects of the hiring process are executed properly (i.e., paperwork, offer letter, communication).
  • Conducts new hire orientations to ensure new employees are smoothly and effectively brought into the company.

Benefits Administration

  • Communicates and administers all company employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, retirement, and 401K, etc.
  • Primary point of contact to all employees for interpretation, response and resolution of all employee benefits related issues.
  • Ensure company compliance with new applicable state and federal benefits legislation.

Policies & Procedures

  • Establish and maintain current, accurate employee personnel files in compliance with relevant legal requirements. Respond to employee requests to view his/her personnel file.
  • Insure company compliance with new HR-related legislation such as employment, benefits and/or employee practices legislation (i.e. Americans with Disability Act, Family Medical Leave Act, COBRA/HIPAA, Employee Privacy Act, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, Occupational Safety and Health Act, etc.)
  • Maintain current technical expertise in the Human Resources generalist field, keeping abreast of HR best practices as well as applicable state and federal HR-related legislation and events.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
